Southern giant petrel (Macronectes giganteus) in flight. This large bird is native to Antarctica and the southern hemisphere regions. It is around 86 centimetres in length with a wingspan of around 195 centimetres. This bird feeds on the carrion of mainly seals and penguins. It will also eat krill, squid and fish.
