Rarus

Foaled in 1867 at Greenport, New York, Rarus was sired by Conklin's Abdallah 15 out of Nancy Awful. At three years of age, he was broken to harness and won his first race around 3:00. From 1874 to 1876, on the Grand Circuit, Rarus reduced the record to 2:30 3/4. In 1878 he trotted in 2:13 1/4, was sold to Robert Bonner for $36,000 and was retired.
