  • Lubber grasshopper (Romalea microptera) with spread wings The lubber grasshopper is so called because it is large, stout, clumsy. It is the best known species of grasshopper in Florida, USA. It has small wings and is flightless. The male tends to be smaller than the female, measuring 43-55 millimetres in length, compared to 50-70 millimetres.
